Privacy policy
This page explains what information GaijinDev collects when you use this site, why, and what happens to it. It covers the contact form, the tour and onsen booking forms, and the site's hosting and analytics setup. It does not cover any third-party site you're linked to from here.

What this site collects
Most GaijinDev pages ship as plain HTML. The contact form and the tour/onsen booking form send the information you submit for a reply; Cloudflare also runs the hosting and form protection described below.
Intro Card
Intro Card keeps the Base card you create in your browser's local storage. Images are prepared locally and contact details are not uploaded to GaijinDev. The Meeting note is session-only and is not written to the saved Base card. You can clear the saved card from the Intro Card screen at any time.
Contact form
Submitting the contact form sends: your name, your email address, an optional company or engagement context, and your message. You also pick what you're contacting about (IT work, a tour, or something else), which is included so the reply goes to the right place.
Booking / experience inquiry form
Submitting a booking inquiry sends: your name, your email address, an optional travel date range, an optional group size, whether anyone in your group has tattoos (asked because some onsen and public baths in Japan restrict entry for visible tattoos, so this is confirmed with the venue in advance), and any optional notes you add about pacing, mobility, food, or what you're hoping for.
What is not collected
Both forms include a hidden field that legitimate visitors never see or fill in. It exists only to catch automated spam submissions and is not a way of collecting information about you. No account is created, no password is set, and neither form asks for payment details.
Why it's collected
Information submitted through either form is used for one purpose: to read your inquiry and reply to it, whether that means answering a question, discussing an IT engagement, or putting together a quote and availability for a tour or onsen day. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or building a marketing list.
How it's handled and who sees it
Form submissions are sent as an email to Aaron, using Resend as the email delivery service. Resend transmits that email on GaijinDev's behalf and, like any email provider, briefly processes the message to deliver it. The site itself does not save a copy of your submission in a database. The form handler builds the email and sends it. If you don't hear back and would like this confirmed further, ask via the contact details below.
The site does not currently set a fixed retention period for the emails these forms generate. If you would like your submission deleted, see "Your rights" below.
Before a submission reaches Resend, it passes through a basic spam and rate-limit check hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. That check counts recent submissions per visitor to stop automated flooding; it stores short-lived counters, not the content of your message, and those counters expire on their own within the hour. This site also runs on a Cloudflare Workers session mechanism required by the hosting framework itself, and the site does not use it to store anything about visitors.
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics script. It reports aggregate information such as page views, referrers, approximate device/screen size, and page performance. It does not use cookies or any cross-site identifier, and it cannot individually identify you. No other analytics or advertising trackers (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar) are used on this site.
Maps
Pages that show a map (the experiences hub and tour/onsen detail pages) load map tile images directly from OpenStreetMap's tile server. Loading those images means your browser makes a direct request to OpenStreetMap's servers, and like any web request, that can log the requesting IP address on their end. GaijinDev does not control what OpenStreetMap logs or retains; see OpenStreetMap's own privacy documentation for that. No account or search data is sent to OpenStreetMap beyond what's needed to draw the map tiles.
Cookies
This site does not set marketing, tracking, or advertising cookies. It does not show a cookie banner because it does not need consent for the cookies it doesn't use. Cloudflare, as the hosting provider, may set operational cookies of its own strictly to run the service (for example, security or load-balancing); those aren't controlled by GaijinDev and aren't used to track you across sites.
No sale of data
GaijinDev does not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone. It is shared only with the email delivery service (Resend) needed to get your message to Aaron, and, where relevant, with hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) needed to run the site and forms.
Your rights
You can ask what information was sent through a form submission, ask for it to be deleted from any inbox or logs it landed in, or ask a question about any of the above. Email aaron@gaijindev.com, the same address these forms deliver to.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it's handled changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will reflect that.
